INDIVIDUAL COLLEGE PROJECT:
PRODUCT DESIGN I ARDUINO PROGRAMMING
Stacked Stopwatch
an intuitive ticker timer
Project
Brief
Not a conventional clock, my intuitive 'Stacked Stopwatch' is a timer inspired from the spinning motion and way in which it juxtaposes time.
Created as a project for a class at Massachusetts Institute of Art, Design and Technology's (MIT, Cambridge) department of Architecture and Planning, the Stacked Stopwatch contains a mechanism run by an Arduino Uno, including the stepper motor as the primary electric component that the design is centred around.
I learned basic Arduino programming, as well as electric- fixing to create this device that expresses time through motion. The stopwatch gives a rhythmic count of 10 seconds while completing a full spin, allowing the user to intercept time without the use of any symbols or numbers.
